I’m new to Cornerstone —what can I expect?

Many people are not in the habit of regularly attending church.

Here are some of the frequently asked questions about attendance at Cornerstone.

If you would like to know more, you can request further information here.

How should I dress?

People who attend the services at Cornerstone Baptist Church dress a variety of ways. There is no dress code for attendance. Some wear traditional church clothing on Sundays and others wear more casual clothing.

What takes place in the 10:30 AM worship service?

A normal Sunday morning worship service will consist of some singing, the reading of the Bible, and a message from the Bible that is easy to understand and relevant to issues that you face in life. Service length is usually one to one and a quarter hours.

Will I be asked to give money?

In most of our services, an offering is received, but visitors are under no obligation to give. If you do not want to give, or are unable to give, simply pass the offering plate to the person next to you. You will not be embarrassed in any way.

Will I be asked to say anything publicly?

No. We know that most first time visitors want to attend as anonymously as possible. We will not embarrass you or draw attention to you publicly. Promise!

Should I bring a Bible?

Yes, if you have one, that is a great idea. If you do not own one, there are copies in the pews for your use.

Will I be made to feel bad or guilty while at church?

That all depends. Some messages are very encouraging and uplifting. Others will challenge your current perspective on life. The Holy Spirit of God does use the Word of God to bring conviction upon people. If you are convicted during a service, that is a good thing. The Spirit of God brings conviction not as an end, but as a means to growth and change that leads to life and peace.

I have young children. Is there a place for them?

We have a wonderful nursery for children. Parents are encouraged to take advantage of this. Our Greeters will help you find it.

Cornerstone Baptist Church has a child protection policy that is rigidly enforced. All of those who work with children have been trained to do so. They are all committed to provide safeguards for your child’s protection. Our policy complies with standards set in the church insurance industry.

What version of the Bible do you use?

People of Cornerstone use several different English versions. Pastor Hart preaches from the ESV.
Top

What kind of music do you use?

Our worship services feature contemporary Christian music. The most important element of music for us is that the music says the right things and helps us worship God in spirit and in truth.

How long does a service last?

Most public worship services at Cornerstone last about an hour and fifteen minutes.
